I may have mentioned this before but over the past year there has been a lot changes in my life both personally and professionally. It also made me re-evaluate my geekness. If this was a few years ago, I’d be hyped about the upcoming genre blockbusters. Now, nothing is making me jump for joy. It seems there is nothing new, just sequels and rehashes. I thought 2014 would end on a high note with the 3rd Hobbit film, but alas, it left me none to excited. However, non-genre film have been as source of cinematic entertainment after seeing Foxcatcher, Whiplash and the Imitation Game. All 3 are definitely Oscar contenders.
I know it sounds negative, but my love for comics have been dropped and brought down to 2 titles: Atomic Robo and Heavy Metal. This year marks 20 years that I have been reading Heavy Metal.I had heard the news that Marvel is doing a “52-pick up” (ala DC) with their Secret Wars/Battleworld debacle. This shows that the more things change, the more they stay the same. I have been reading more comic strips for enjoyment as of late.
On the upside, my love and respect for art has been a constant if not more of a passion since the tragedy in Paris. FREE SPEECH MUST NEVER BE SILENCED. Hence the strip you see here which will remain for a little while longer.
I feel less a geek ,don’t know if it’s just a phase or maybe just a reboot.
